Relaxing after a long day

So me and Lucky VI Fujisaii Thomas was just chillin' from a long day and began discussing a song we had gotten into our heads, it turns out it was Rockit by Herbie Hancock from the Album Future Shock.

We then began talking about how to get to listen to the song the easiest. We tried Box but it was in WMA format with DMA protection, and even though it's not impossible to make it into an MP3 it still potentially takes some of the quality from the song plus it's a lot of bother for something that's much more conveniently downloadable¹ with eMule.


iTunes has the song, but only if I pay 8 kr. and I don't want to pay for a song I really already own in some way (I own a copy of GTA3 Vice City containing the song) so I remembered that Altavista is keeping themself afloat because of a very nice MP3/Audio search function and I guess if they can link directly to the song, well so can I¹

I really have no idea what the rules are here in Denmark with Deep links but let's just say that it was nice to listen to a good 20-some year old song. And Herb if you read this, I like your song, it's a hit and If you feel that I ripped you off in some way by listening to your song in a way that did not involve driving a cab around Vice City trying to get a hundred passengers in a row, almost getting it and then throwing the game out a third floor window along with the TV and PS2 because the game crashed at passenger number 98, I'll gladly send you a dollar.

What irritates me is that that would propably still be illegal because some record company owns the right to the song. Oh well, they'll be gone soon anyways

Disabling pc beep

Since I got my x40 I've been annoyed with one thing. The pc beep, it's stupidly loud especially when you're wearing headphones. Today I finally managed to disable it, later ofcourse I found a page telling me exactly what I've been looking for all this time. But this guide includes snappy pictures.


Ok so first off, Click 'Start', 'Run' and type 'devmgmt.msc' to open the Device manager


In the device manager, click 'Show' and 'Show hidden devices'


Right-click 'beep' select properties


Deactivate the device.


And just to be sure you've killed it, go to the Driver tab, stop the device and deactivate under Start.

There you're set, no more annoying beebs that knocks your headphones off. That wasn't so hard, but the guys in support said it was impossible and I had to live with it :(

Christiania Bike 1.0 Roadmap

Introduction

Christiania Bike will be one of the most important delivery vehicles for Embla in 2005. I have a lot of dreams for my next major upgrade. This blog is supposed to be a humorous rip off description of our how we intend to get to Christiania Bike 1.0.

Structure

We are planning for a Christiania Bike 1.0, but will divide the planned work over three major milestones, 0.2 (July 2005), 0.5 (unscheduled) and 1.0 (unscheduled).

On Naming...

I'm thinking about codenaming ver. 1.0 Thunder-cougar-Falconbike

Since I know a number (what, one is a number) of people track this document for changes I'll make this clear, once more, just so we're all on the same page:

Developer releases are not for general riding and may crash.

Goals

We are still working on goals for 1.0. Some goals include:

• Go-Cards "Outside the Box"
• Sound Enhancements
• Accessibility compliance
• padding inside the box
• Security enhacements

Security patch for Christiania Bike

I've just released a security update for my bike. I urge everyone to do something similar with their bikes. This is just a patch and until I can make a proper security system for it I have to ride down alternative roads to protect my bike.

Happy Birthday Herle!

Today is my big sister Herle's birthday, it's a little hard to come to her birthday party as she is currently half-way around the globe somewhere in Argentina making the new Asterix movie.

Naturally I'm proud as a pope of the fact that my sister is so talented, and right now I'm having my own birthday present framed at Rammeværkstedet. It's a drawing of the hero Justforkix, his girlfriend and their pidgeon SMS(?) and it's really neat!

So right now, I'm on my way down to Merkur Bank to buy one share in the bank. When I get home, I'll probably write something about it.

Update: If you look carefully, you'll see the the time I posted this was exactly 7 minutes after they closed the Bank. So my investments are put on hiatus until next week

á Túr - Píka

I just heard an album called Píka from the apparantly icelandic band Á Túr. I found it purely by chance, on a shared iTunes playlist, but unfortunately I can't find any info about the band, either on iTunes music store, or on the interweb.

Magic Fingers - prelude

I've always been kind of magical, but recently I think the planets are especially well aligned. Also, the clouds seem funny these days.

It all startet this Tuesday. I was standing at my desk thinking about how long it was since I had visited my wonderful friend Guxi, when she called me. Unfortunately I was with a customer and could not recieve her call. After I had gotten the customer back online, I called her up and made plans for dinner and slumberparty (with Guxi, not the customer).

My computer was running kind of low on battery and I didn't have my charger, so I went home, took a shower, shaved, got the nessecary equipment and took off.

Apart from having a wonderful time with good food, pleasant compagny, music and laughter, I managed to find an open wireless network. got connected and got Guxi registered to Skype, go on, give her a call I think I'm going to give her my wireless USB dongle so she can get online. Oh and I also fixed her roommate's 3rd generation iPod.

The next day I went to work, and when I came home, Laura and Lena was sitting, talking about lost love. Then they tricked me into helping Lena, get a huge closet home. Thank god I had a Christiania Bike. After I dragged it up the stairs almost killing myself, I made them both dinner and bought them Chocolate.

IMHO I think they all see me as pretty magical right now :)

Customer hell Magic Fingers

So right now I'm on hold to support, don't know if I can fix this problem, but so far it seems my blessing from the previous couple of days is wearing off. I hope this is not the case. Maybe if I play my cards correctly.

Update: So it seems my blessing is holding up still. I got the customer online, it took like 48 minutes, but I got her online. Seems like it really paid off to be persistent.

Writing in pregress

So, I'm sitting at work, listening to people complain about their non-working interweb, and I want to write something on my webpage. Problem is, I don't have enough idle time, only enough to maybe read a cartoon or a short newsstory. Maybe even reply to an email with "neat" or something like that.

Only reason I'm writing this, is that I haven't gone to work yet. Therefore I have some time to write about why my blog hasn't been updated :-/

Now I'm gonna go, so I have time to buy some milk for my tea which I'm going to bring to work. I'll try to write something (no really) or I'll do a post showing what I do before I get interuptet or something, we'll see.

Update: Today, everybody went outside, to enjoy the sun (thanks Laura;) So noone want's to call me. Therefore there will probably be lots of updates today :)

Writing in progress

So I'm in the middle of making a new blog entry, and I get hit with writers block.

Nothin'

I got nothing new to say, my mind completely blank.

I guess Blogs only happen when something interesting is going on, something to report about other than "I went to the store yesterday, bought some food" or "I baby-sat my niece last night"

I guess I could write something like, we just saw "Shrek 2 - i Kina spiser de æsler" it was funny. Or I could write something like, went to work today, it was awful as usual. But instead I'm gonna say, "The weather's great, I'm going out"

Update: I went out, it was great, I went across dronning Louises bro, and sat on a grassy knoll, ate a bag of oranges and read Stephen Hawking's Illustrated Brief History of Time. Then I met Fuji. Then I went home and fell asleep.

This tool is really neat, pity it only works in Internet Exploder Internet Explorer, oh well someone is bound to make an extension for Firefox eventually.

If you find an interesting webpage, you can click a button in IE and Hello takes a snapshot of the page. Then you can send it to your friends on Hello (if you know anyone who uses it) Or you can send it to Blogger. Just like I just did.

Fireskype

I just had a great idea!

Everytime a telephone number shows on a webpage, it should be a Skype callto:// link like this +45 41 41 13 41 and you should be able to select a default country code so if my number shows up like this 41 41 13 41, or just 41411341 it would automatically be turned into this 41 41 13 41 or 41411341 respectively. I suggest calling it FireSkype. obviously I'm talking about a Firefox extension here, although a Thunderbird version would also be handy.

I did a little research on How to create Firefox extensions tried it out, but failed misserably. It's a nice guide though, I suggest trying it out if you want to learn how to create Firefox extensions.

Will anyone step up to the challenge and make this extension?
